I have been working as a freelance web designer for the past 5 years, running John Hoey Web Design since 2015. During this period, it’s gone from strength to strength working with a small but happy client base.
I’ve worked with clients from a variety of backgrounds, including both b2b and b2c customers.
What is a freelance web designer?
A freelance web designer is someone who can bring a clients idea of how they want their website to look and feel to life.
Using creative software such as Adobe creative suite or sketch, they can produce mock up views of your site design and walk through this with you. This can then be given to a freelance web developer to bring their work to life.
A decent freelance web designer will have a good, solid portfolio of work, ranging from concept to full working designs.
Why hire a freelance web designer?
When you hire a freelance web designer can give you a massive benefits instead of hiring an agency to do the work for you.
They can fit around your schedule and can usually pay either by hour or per contract.
At John Hoey Web Design we do the latter and offer an ‘all in’ price for the duration of the contract.
It’s also important that when you hire a freelance web designer to find out a bit of information about
- What type of commercial experience they have?
- Are they insured?
- Do they have any examples of work
- Can they offer any testimonials?
- Can they offer you a contract for piece of mind
Although the above isn’t essential, these are just some of the questions I get asked. If they are as good as they say they are, they should be able to provide the above fairly easily (just as we do)
